Cameron Parish Recreation District 5 held its regularly scheduled meeting on January 19, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
Board President Tremayne Picou called the meeting to order and on roll call the following members were present: Thomas Cox and Jacob Babcock
Absent: Brett Bellard and Kayla Conner
Employees in attendance were Lisa Ledano.
Guests present: none
Minutes of the previous meeting, October 20, 2022, were distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Thomas Cox made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
Old Business:
•Public Comment – time was allowed for public comment prior to voting on all agenda items.
•Monthly Membership Dues – following discussion amongst members present, Jacob Babcock made a motion to set monthly membership dues as $20.00 for single membership, $40.00 for family membership, $5.00 for walk ins and $200.00 annual membership for single memberships only. Police, First Responders and Firemen who are Cameron Parish residents will receive a 25% discount on single membership only. Thomas Cox seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
•24 hour access – Thomas Cox made a motion to table the subject to a later date. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
•Security cameras – Thomas Cox made a motion to table the subject to a later date. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
•Equipment for the facility – following discussion amongst members present, Thomas Cox made a motion to accept the quote from Fitness Expo, Inc for a lease purchase with the option to purchase at the end of the lease. The quote total is $59,158.90 with payment options of three (3), four (4) and five (5) year options. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
•Office personnel to oversee operations – following discussion amongst members present, Jacob Babcock made a motion to hire two (2) employees to work 7 on and 7 off schedules with split weeks as Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Each work day will be 9 hours and the hourly pay rate will be $10.75. Thomas Cox seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
New Business:
•Public Comment – time was allowed for public comment prior to voting on all agenda items.
•Possible water leak on premises – the members present discussed that they will set a date to go to the premises and attempt to locate a leak and get it fixed.
The board members present reviewed the invoices for the months of October, November and December 2022. Jacob Babcock made a motion to approve the bills. Thomas Cox seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
The treasurer’s reports for the months of October, November and December 2022 were distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Thomas Cox made a motion to accept the treasurer’s reports as presented. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
With no further business to discuss, Thomas Cox made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
