DOTD announces closures affecting Cameron Parish

Black Bayou Bridge

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that on Monday, July 19, the Black Bayou Bridge on LA 384 over the Intracoastal Waterway would be closed to vehicle traffic for two weeks. The closure is expected to end on Aug. 1.

This closure is necessary for the contractor to complete the installation of the new electric winch system. All vehicles will need to detour to the Grand Lake Bridge on LA 384 in Cameron Parish. Motorists are advised all dates and activities are weather dependent.

Marine traffic will not be impacted by the closure.

Call 511, visit www.511la.org, or download the Louisiana 511 mobile app for additional information. Out-of-state travelers may call I-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Motorists may also monitor the LA DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov, by selecting MyDOTD, or by visiting the DOTD Facebook and Twitter pages.

Big Lake Road

On Thursday, July 22, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m., the southbound lane on LA 384 (Big Lake Road) between MP 16.38 and MP 16.27 will be closed. This closure is needed for annual operations and maintenance inspection of the Black Bayou Culverts Structure.

Traffic will be maintained by flagmen.

DOTD appreciates your patience, and reminds you to please drive with caution through construction sites, and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
