The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date at 5:00 p.m. and meeting was called to order, members in attendance were: Marsha Trahan, Telesha Bertrand, Sheila Miller, Christi Labove and Sharon Picou
Absent: Joseph Delcambre, Randall Faulk and Robin Morales
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Trahan and Mrs. Bertrand.
On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mrs. Picou seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the board minutes of the September 12, 2022 regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board, as presented by the Superintendent.
The Board received the annual report from the LSU Extension Office, as presented by Kevin Savoie.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved payment of the bills, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.
The Board received Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.
The Board received information on the monthly report on property income, as prepared by Mr. Mike Cassidy- Cameron Parish District Attorney office.
The Board received information regarding Assistant District Attorney Michael Cassidy being placed on Cameron Parish School Board payroll/insurance in lieu of prior arrangement as presented by District Attorney Tom Barrett.
The Board received reports on current construction bid activities, as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Project Management Team:
A. Projects to be bid/quotes James Hoffpauir, Project Management
Pending Insurance and FEMA Review
•South Cameron High School – Various Final Restoration Repairs – Miscellaneous Repairs to Athletic Field Structures (Stadium Light Poles, Bleachers, Press Box, Green House, etc.)
•South Cameron High School – Men’s Restroom, Women’s Restroom and Concession Stand
•South Cameron High School New Gym Complex – Preliminary Floor Plan updated. Out for Bid, pending FEMA review.
B. Projects out for bid/quotes- James Hoffpauir, Project Management

C. Approval of bid and quote awards- Superintendent
•None at this time
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.
The Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites’ projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board’s Project Management Firm, as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC and Project Architects.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved revisions to Policy JCDB Student Dress Code, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved revisions to the Cameron Parish School Board Pupil Progression Plan as presented for input to local stakeholder’s committee by Mrs. Stephanie Rogers, Supervisor, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved policies to align with the 2022 Louisiana Legislative Session, as presented by the Superintendent:
GBDA – Employment of Retired Personnel
GBN – Dismissal of Employees
GBRIB – Sick Leave
GBRID – Military Leave
IDDFA – Special Education Advisory Council
IDDFC – Cameras in Special Education Classrooms
JBCE – Public School Choices
JGCE – Child Abuse

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved granting out-of-state travel to GLHS National Honor Society to travel to Houston, TX November 30,2022 through December 2,2022 – Learning About Cultures- Sponsors to travel with students, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved granting out-of-state travel to South Cameron High School FFA to travel to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN October 24, 2022 through October 29,2022- two students, two teachers will travel by car- administrator will attend and travel by air – additionally the stipend per student is being requested per policy IDE, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved granting out-of- state travel to Hackberry High School Student Council to attend the Southern Association of Student Council Leadership Conference from October 21st through the 24th in Pompano Beach, FL- the students will travel with the Sulphur High School and Stark High School Groups, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved the following supervisor contract, as presented by the Superintendent: Supervisor- Stephanie Rogers
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved of a Service Contract for Hackberry High School Auction Sale-2023 with Pedersen & Pedersen Auctions, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved to put out for bid property located at 510 Marshall St. Cameron, LA, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved receiving information and taking necessary action on LASS Accountability Proposal on behalf of LSBA, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved moving the November meeting to November 7, 2022, as presented by the Superintendent.

Please accept this report regarding my efforts to meet the following Performance Objectives as outlined in Exhibit A of my employment contract:
1. Human Resource Management
a. Visited each school at least once a week to meet with administration regarding any issues and also to visit various classrooms and teachers
b. Conducted 1st principal’s meeting for 2022 on 9/26 at GLES and 9/27 @ JBHS
2. District Operations and Financial Management
a. Attended LHSAA appeals meeting on 9/7 for Select/Non-select classification
b. Attended OGB planning meeting on 9/8 regarding possible premium rate increases
c. Met at SCHS on 9/15 with Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Fontenot, and Coach McKoin to discuss status of the gym at SCHS
d. Attended JB phase II Construction meeting on 9/22
e. Attended HHS Vo Ag Construction meeting on 9/22
f. Participated in FEMA call on 9/30
3. Student Growth and Achievement
a. Held District Learning Walks at GLES on 9/26
b. Held District Learning Walks at JBHS on 9/27
c. Held C & I meetings on 9/1, 9/15, and 9/28
4. Communication and Community Relations
a. Attended JBHS open house on 9/6
b. Participated in McNeese Future Search Conference on 9/12, 9/13 and 9/14
5. Organizational Leadership
a. Participated in a LDOE Superintendent’s call on 9/2
b. Participated in LDOE Teaching and Learning call on 9/28
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting at 5:47 p.m.
