Cody James Day, 28, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, June 21, 2023 following a brief illness from an injury.

He was born in Lake Charles and has lived most of his life in the Lake area. He was a 2013 graduate of Reeves High School. He started his freshman year as a 3rd baseman for the Reeves Baseball team and started as catcher his Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. He also began work under his uncle’s supervision during high school, learning diesel mechanics and working in that field. He later pursued an interest in Industrial Construction where he worked as a pipefitter, primarily for his current employer, The Shaw Group.

Survivors include his parents, John Raymond Day, Jr. and Melissa Duhon Day of Lake Charles; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Day of Lake Charles; two sisters, Charlotte Cormier of Ragley and Amanda Chaney of Beaumont, Texas; two brothers, Sean Ross Day of Reeves and Eric Holden Day of Washington; and god parents, Kenny and Candice Brumfield of Westlake.

He was preceded in death by one sister; paternal grandfather, John Raymond Day, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Charles Duhon and Charlotte Ann Doucet and paternal great grandparents, Clyde and Minnie Mae Tilley.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27, in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Jeffrey Starkovich officiated. Interment services followed in Grand Lake Community Cemetery.
