Coast Guard survey deadline February 15

The Coast Guard Survey Deadline is approaching. The U.S. Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Unit in Lake Charles is conducting a Waterways Analysis and Management System questionnaire about the Mermentau Entrance Channel to Lake Arthur.

The purpose is to determine the capabilities of the existing aids to the navigation system and to enhance safe navigation of the waterway.

“This network of signs, buoys and markers must be kept up-to-date and functioning properly so that commercial and recreational vessels can safely navigate in the marine transportation system,” according to the Coast Guard. “Your comments will help the Coast Guard make waterway management decisions that reflect the concerns of Mermentau and Lake Arthur waterway users.”

“It is important to keep the aids to navigation in the Mermentau,” said Kim Montie, executive director of the Cameron Parish Port.

Companies and individuals are asked to provide comments by Feb. 15.
