Charles Sandifer

Charles Wilmer “Hot Shot” Sandifer, 90, of Sulphur died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022.

He was a native of Vinton where he attended Vinton High School and was a member of the High School Rodeo team where he rode bulls. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corp. He later moved to Johnson Bayou where he worked in the oilfield and later retired as custodian at Johnson Bayou High School.

He is survived by his wife, Claudelle Courvelle of Sulphur; children, Angela Trahan (Glen) of Johnson Bayou, Joni Bruks (Ivars) of Sulphur; Dusty Sandifer (Juanita) of Johnson Bayou, Robin Sandifer of Carlyss, Toby Sandifer of Carlyss, Veronica Conner (Darryl) of Many, Scott Sandifer (Jenny) of Singer; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Nora Sandifer; and eight siblings.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Mar. 1, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Roland Vaughn officiated. Burial followed in Big Woods Cemetery.
