Brown, Hackberry graduate, is WCCH scholarship recipient

The West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital Foundation recently awarded two local high school seniors a $1,600 scholarship to support their McNeese State University health professions degrees.

The WCCH Foundation/Mac Burns Scholarship is presented to a graduating high school senior(s) in WCCH’s service district who has chosen a career in the medical field and will attend McNeese State University in the fall and spring semesters after graduation.

This year, Kinsley Brown of Hackberry High School was one of the recipients.

Brown was actively involved in her education and extracurricular activities as a high school student at HHS; she was a member of Student Council, Future Farmers of America and 4-H. Brown will attend McNeese State University in the fall and plans to pursue a degree in nursing to achieve her goal of caring for others.

To receive the scholarship, recipients must have achieved a 3.0 GPA and must have been accepted by McNeese State University. The recipients must also exhibit positive leadership capabilities and a genuine regard for those with whom he or she comes in contact.
