Bennie Ray Brashear, died on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.
He was born in Lake Charles. He graduated from LaGrange High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1972. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, working as a helicopter crew chief and Huey maintenance instructor and retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1993. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s in Educational Psychology during his active duty years. He went on to work as a civilian at Sheppard AFB as an aircraft fundamentals instructor and later as a medical training manager at the time of his civilian retirement in 2011. He owned and operated Quality Cycle in Iowa Park, Texas since 1984.
He is survived by his former wife, Cindy Trahan Lee; children Jeremie Brashear and wife Stephanie of Tucson, Ariz., Sara Klein and husband Jeff of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jessie Brashear and wife Beth of Wichita Falls, Texas; 10 grandchildren; siblings, twin sister, Billie Rossiter of Lake Charles, brothers, Keith Brashear of Big Lake, Kurt Brashear of Warrensburg, Mo., and Bobby Brashear of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Jean Brashear; and son, David Brashear.
Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Feb. 4, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Entombment with United States Air Force Honors was held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.
