Barbara Ann Trahan, born in Creole on Nov. 12, 1937, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at the age of 83.

Barbara loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Alida (LaBove) Benoit; first husband, Jimmy Trahan; her siblings, Winston Benoit, Hebert Benoit, Mary Ann Trahan, and Lorraine Miller.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Darrell Salsgiver; son, Carl James Trahan (Melissa); sisters, Corrine Willis; Olive Rutherford; Norma Lee Bourriaque; grandchildren, Angela Doxey (Huba); Carl James Trahan, Jr. (Tori); Janice Trahan; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bob Fruge officiating. Burial will follow in Sweet Lake – Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation began in the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 8 until 10 a.m.
