Audrey LeDoux

Audrey Nunez Matte LeDoux gracefully departed this life on Jan. 16, 2024, in the comfort of her Big Lake, home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Aug. 8, 1929, in Grand Lake, Audrey was the daughter of Dan and Elize Nunez.

Audrey graduated from Grand Lake High School and maintained connections with former classmates by organizing memorable class reunions at Holly Beach. As a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Audrey exemplified her commitment to community through active involvement in the Lady’s Altar Society, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, dedicated service as a Eucharistic minister, and many other activities.

Audrey had a passion for sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking. She was a steadfast supporter of her beloved Big Lake community and enjoyed visiting her neighbors and friends, often bringing baked goods and fresh vegetables from her garden.

Audrey is survived by her devoted husband, Howard LeDoux, and leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her daughters, Joan Matte Richard (Gerald) and Inga Matte Jones (Randy). Her memory is further honored by her grandchildren Kane Richard, Dr. Courtnee Richard Pelton (Dr. Dan Pelton), Evan Jones, Morganne Jones Birt (Michael Birt), and two great-granddaughters Elliana and Eva Pelton.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Harley Matte, as well as her sister, Leanna Hector, and brother, Pete Nunez. Audrey’s life was a tapestry of love, community, and unwavering faith, and her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort to those who knew her.

Following a private ceremony, she will be laid to rest in Grand Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities or the St. Mary of the Lake Building fund.

The family would like to thank the Cameron deputies, Amedisys Hospice, and Gerr and Craig Hendrix for all their support.
