Appointments made, bids accepted at Police Jury meeting

Cameron Parish Police Jury met for their regular scheduled meeting on Wednesday, July 19, at the CPPJ West Annex board room; all jurors were present.

The following appointments were accepted:

Mike Henry was appointed to Gravity Drainage Dist. No. 3; Kevin Vincent and Armand “Bubba” Richard were reappointed to Consolidated Fire Protection of South Cameron; Bobby Stansel was reappointed to Gravity Drainage Dist. No. 9; J. C. Baccigalopi and Tina Horn were reappointed to Waterworks Dist. No. 9; and Kevin LaComb was appointed to Recreation Dist. No. 9. Holly Beach Crab Festival was officially approved to be a festival within the parish of Cameron. Other recognized festivals and fairs include: Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival, St. Mary of the Lake Fall Food Festival; Grand Chenier Alligator Festival, Summer Bayou Bash Festival, Hackberry Duck-off and Cameron Saltwater Fishing Festival.
Industrial LNG facility temporary food service vendors were added to approved food vendors.

Motion passed on General Alimony to levy additional or increase millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessent and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next year from the increased millage is $1,855,797,87 and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $13,746.10.

Motion passed on Road and Bridge maintenance to levy additional or increase millage rates with further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next year from the increased millage is $3,147,983,06 and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage is $18,330.39.

Moved to accept the Fire Protection Dist. No. 14 maintenance of additional or increase millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessmet and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next year from the increased millage is $166,380.16 and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $18,681.59.

Moved to accept adopting millage rates for Ad Valorem taxes for 2023.

Bids were accepted to rebuild OEP Pavillion from Hurricane Laura/Delta.

President was approved authority to sign MOU between OEP and Venture Global CP2 for the CCPJ to be reimbursed for emergency services provided when required.

Bids were accepted for the Rockefeller Refuge Shoreline Stabilization Project (ME-35), the westward extension of previously constructed breakwaters on the Gulf Shoreline of Rockefeller Refuge, funded by, Cameron Parish, Calcasieu, and State of LA RESTORE funds, and president authority to sign required documents for said project bid.

President was given authority to sign CEA with Calcasieu Parish for funds for the Rockefeller Refuge Shoreline Stabilization Project (ME-35), the westward extesion of previously constructed breakwaters on the Gulf Shoreline of Rockefeller Refuge

Liquor permit was approved for Lighthouse Bend Landmark, LLC, for Lighthouse To-Go Market, 190 Davis Road, Suite B, Cameron.
