Summer Reading Program to kickoff across the parish

The Cameron Parish Library is excited to announce the launch of its 2026 Summer Reading Program, themed “Plant a Seed, Read”, with a fun-filled week of kick-off events across the parish. The celebration will feature Almosta Ranch Petting Zoo, Tasha’s Creative Face Painting, Balloon Twisting & Train Rides, refreshments, door prizes, and a variety of lovable animals, including a pony for petting, chickens, ducks, goats, tortoises and a Great Pyrenees.

These events are open to patrons of all ages, and everyone is invited to register for the Summer Reading Program and pick up a full summer schedule. All activities, programs, and performances offered by the library are free and open to the public.

Monday, June 1: Hackberry Library, 10 a.m., 980 Main St., Hackberry; Johnson Bayou Library, 2 p.m., 5556 Gulf Beach Hwy, Cameron.

Tuesday, June 2: Grand Lake Library, 10 a.m., 10200 Gulf Hwy, Lake Charles.

Wednesday, June 3: Grand Chenier Library, 10 a.m., 2863 Grand Chenier Hwy, Grand Chenier; Cameron Main Library, 2 p.m., 512 Marshall St., Cameron.

Thursday, June 4: Klondike Community Center, 11 a.m., 434 Veterans Memorial Drive, Gueydan.
