2022 Fur Fest schedule

The 63rd Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival saluting the Shrimping Industry will be held Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 6-8, at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles unless otherwise stated. Events taking place over the three days are listed here:

Thursday, Jan. 6

6 p.m. – Little Miss and Mister Cameron Parish and Miss Cameron Parish Pageants. Admission is $5 and will be held at South Cameron High School, 753 Oak Grove Highway, Grand Chenier, (Creole).

Friday, Jan. 7

9 a.m. – Dog Trials – Registration Begins-Sweetlake Area, Corner Hwy. 27 and Hacketts Road.

10 a.m. – Dog Trails Begin – Junior Pups with Seasoned Dogs to Follow

5 p.m. – Gates Open – Carnival, Craft and Food Booths Open; No Admission Fee.

10 p.m. – Gates Close – Carnival, Craft and Food Booths Close

Saturday, Jan. 8

6:30 a.m. – Cooks allowed into Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Area (Gumbo Cook-Off Only).

7 a.m. – Fur Festival 5k Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk (Late Registration)

8 a.m. – 5K Run/1Mile Race and Walk begins at Lake Charles Airport area.

9 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Antique Vehicles Showcase – Free Admission

9 a.m. – Gates Open – Burton Complex. Admission is $15 per person/Children 12 and under get in free. Gumbo Cook Off will be in the Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena. Craft/Vendor Booths will be in the Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena. Carnival Opens in the Burton Complex.

9:30 a.m. – Muskrat and Nutria Skinning – Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena. Trap Setting Competition will be in the Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena. Oyster Shucking Competition will be in the Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena.

10 a.m. – Registration for Kids Master Races will be in the Exhibitor Barn.

10:30 a.m. – Kids Master Oyster Race and Master Shrimping Race will be in the Exhibitor Barn. Group 1 (ages 6-8 years old) Group 2 (ages 9-11 years old)

10:30 a.m. – Gumbo Cook-Off Judging – Burton Livestock/Exhibit Barn Arena

12:30 p.m. – Gumbo Cook-Off Awards – Burton Coliseum

1-3 p.m. – Junior LaCrosse (Entertainment)

3 p.m. – Duck and Goose Calling Competition – LSU AgCenter Office

3-5 p.m. – Steel Shot (Entertainment)

5-5:30 p.m. – Presentation of Festival Royalty, Maryland Delegation Festival Officials.

5:30-7:30 p.m. – Geno Delafose & the French Rockin’ Boogie (Entertainment)

7:30-9:30 p.m. – Beau Young Band (Entertainment)

9:30-11:30 p.m. – Wayne Toups (Entertainment)

Due to hurricane damages the 2022 Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival will be held at the Burton Complex in Lake Charles.
