West Nile Virus found in Grand Lake

This week, statewide, there were 23 mosquito samples that tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Cameron Parish had one positive sample from the Grand Lake area. This area was scheduled Tuesday, June 27 with a truck and was treated by airplane Wednesday, June 28, if the weather permitted.

Citizens of Cameron Parish can protect themselves by reducing their exposure to mosquitoes, especially during dusk, dawn, and nighttime hours, wearing long protective clothing, using mosquito repellent, and emptying any containers on your property that are holding water.

Spray schedules are posted regularly on Cameron OHSEP social media page, if the weather permits.

Spray sensitive individuals should remain indoors during the application.

Trucks are located in and spray the following areas: North Grand Lake, South Grand Lake, West Sweetlake, East Sweetlake, Little Chenier, Chenier Purdue, East Creole, Grand Chenier.
