Waldon Doxey

Waldon Lucien Doxey was born in Grand Chenier and died on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

He was raised in Grand Chenier, where he grew up in the old Doxey home. He later moved to Cameron and graduated from Creole High School in 1950. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army.

He graduated from Sowela Technical Institute in refrigeration mechanics. He later worked in the pogy industry. He opened a gas station, Doxey Mobile Station, along with his son, Lance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matilda Sturlese Doxey and James Ulric Doxey; son, Waldon “Lance” Doxey; three sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Morales Doxey; daughters, Tressa Hebert and husband Charles of Ragley; Milissa Martin of Lake Charles; Jana Philyaw and husband John of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family observed a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 18, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
