Virgie Duhon

Virgie Lorena Duhon of Grand Lake, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at the Garrison Nursing Home in Garrison, Texas at the age of 90. She was born on June 4, 1933, in Grand Lake, where she was a homemaker and lifelong resident of the Grand Lake area.

She was actively devoted to her family and her faith. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and served as a Lay Minister of Communion.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George H. Duhon; her parents, Daniel and Margaret Hebert; and numerous relatives.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce Duhon and wife Betsy of Sulphur; Joey Duhon and wife Debbie of Grand Lake; three daughters, Nell Pelloquin of Lake Charles,, Joyce Granier and husband Ricky of Gary, Texas, and Kaye Byers of Harrison, Ark.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Garrison Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

The family and friends will attend the visitation for Virgie at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 11054 Highway 384, Lake Charles, on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 1130 a.m.

Burial will be in Grand Lake Community Cemetery following services.
