At the Monday, Apr. 14 Cameron Parish School Board meeting, Board Members voted to support the journey of students who qualified to attend the National Future Business Leaders (FBLA) Conference being held in Anaheim, Calif. on June 27-July 3 with $1000 per student.
These Cameron Parish students competed in the State FBLA Conference held in Lafayette back in March. The National FBLA Conference is a prestigious event and a remarkable opportunity for these students to showcase their hard work, gain invaluable experiences and connect with likeminded peers nationwide. This is the first time that middle school students have qualified for this event in history.
Those attending the National Conference and present at the School Board meeting were: Tony Kay Sibelle, South Cameron Middle School Advisor; Jace LeBoeuf, SCMS student placing 3rd in Digital Citizenship; Noah Blackwell, SCMS student placing 4th in Exploring Leadership; Vivian Furman, Grand Lake Middle School student placing 2nd in Introduction to Business Communication and 2nd in Introduction to Financial Math; McKenzie Trahan, GLMS Student placing 1st in Introduction to Business Procedures and 4th in Introduction to FBLA; and Dorothy A. Robinson, GLHS Adviser. Others attending Nationals are: Charlie Skero, GLMS student placing 1st in Organizational Leadership; and Rylee Bourriaque, SCMS student placing 4th in Career Exlplotation.
Two GL students who won at the state level and qualified to attend Nationals but will not be attending are: Camila Gonzalez – 2nd Place – Personal Finance and 4th Place – Business Law; and Regan Ware – 1st Place – Word Processing and 9th Place – Economics.
