South Cameron High

Aaron Broussard has been named South Cameron High Teacher of the Year. Broussard is a High School Math teacher at SCHS, currently in his tenth year there and fourteenth overall.

His wife is also in education and enjoys that his two children come to school with him each day. He likes to spend his free time with family and friends. He also has a chocolate lab that is basically part of the family. He loves teaching and hopes to develop enthusiasm for math in his students.

Broussard is originally from Baton Rouge but has always felt welcomed in Cameron Parish.

South Cameron Middle

Kasie Vercher has been named South Cameron Middle School Teacher of the Year. Vercher is a middle school English teacher at SCHS. This is her sixth year teaching there.

Along with spending time with family and friends, Kasie has two dogs that are spoiled rotten.

She really loves ensuring that her students learn proper grammar each year. Her favorite books include The Divergent Series, Where the Crawdads Sing, and anything written by Dean Koontz.

Vercher is originally from Alexandria where she goes to visit her four nephews and two nieces as often as possible.

South Cameron Elementary

Jessica Matt has been named South Cameron Elementary Teacher of the Year. Matt is a Kindergarten teacher at SCHS, currently in her 11th year of teaching. Most of her years have been in Cameron Parish. She enjoys teaching children the foundational skills they will need to succeed in all aspects of life.

During her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, two children and family.

Matt likes to travel, go to the beach and decorate.
