In an unprecedented accomplishment, South Cameron High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter has made history by qualifying three middle school students for the National FBLA Convention, set to be held in Anaheim, Calif., this summer.
This milestone marks the first time that middle school students from SCHS have advanced to this prestigious event, showcasing their exceptional skills and dedication to business education. The journey began in March during the recent Louisiana FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Lafayette, where students from various schools across the state gathered to compete in various business-related events.
Among the participants, a group of ambitious South Cameron Middle School students showcased impressive knowledge and leadership abilities in competitive events. Sixth grader Noah Blackwell placed fourth in Exploring Leadership, sixth grader Jace Leboeuf placed third in Digital Citizenship, and eighth grader Rylee Bourriaque placed fourth in Career Exploration. They each earned the right to represent their school and Louisiana nationally. They will join competitors from across the country at the convention, participating in workshops, networking with fellow future leaders, and engaging in various leadership activities.
As the countdown to the national convention begins, excitement builds within the SCHS community. The achievements of these middle school students inspire everyone. Parents and faculty are rallying around the students as they prepare for their trip to California.
A fundraising campaign is underway to help cover travel and accommodation costs, beginning with a bake sale on Friday, Apr. 25, at Canik’s Grocery in Creole and Saturday, May 10, at Chessons in Sweet Lake.
