Shon David Manuel, Sr., 57, a resident of Grand Lake, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, in a local care facility.

Mr. Manuel will forever be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He had a big heart and was generous to a fault and was willing to help anyone in need. When not working, he loved working on cars, fishing, shrimping, and loved spending time on the water. He enjoyed football and cooking for his friends and family. He was an entrepreneur at heart and loved putting time into his businesses. He owned and operated both S&M Cranes and Dockside Bar and Grill in Cameron.

Shon was preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Gaspard; and wife, Janet Manuel.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Shon David Manuel, Jr. and wife Beki, Kenneth Whittington and wife Peggy, Anna Morvant and husband Mark, Phillip Whittington, Jared Whittington and wife Tutu; father Allan Manuel and wife Diana; grandchildren, Grace Manuel, Desiree Brooks, Bryan Whittington, Sarah Guidry, Hallie Whittington, Garrett Whittington, Devin Whittington, Kirkland Morvant, Brystin Whittington, Jace Whittington, Khalid Muhammed, Makeda Muhammed; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Sharee Dale and husband Michael; several aunts uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. until time of service in the sanctuary of First Church of the Nazarene located at 3940 Holly Hill Rd., Lake Charles. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, at 1:30 p.m. Cheryl Powell is to officiate. Burial will follow in the Grand Lake Sweetlake Cemetery.
