Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office has recently purchased a Drone. This Drone is capable of flying a distance up to nine miles from the controller. It has an automatic landing mode where it will return to its take off point. The drone also has infrared vision for nighttime operations. Once the proper software is purchased. It has the capability of documenting measurements from a crime scene or crash scene. There are many other features this equipment has.

The Sheriff’s Office can use it for evaluating scenes of any type constantly. It can also be used to locate missing persons if we know what area they are in. Example: a child wandering off from their home or the beach.

The Drone is registered with the FAA as an aircraft. Four Pilots have undergone training with the drone and are in the process of obtaining their Pilot’s license.
