Two rounds of severe thunderstorms in two and a half days have rattled Cameron Parish residents and visitors.

On Tuesday afternoon strong winds caused an injury at the Venture Global LNG construction site. a spokeswomen reported, “This afternoon during a sudden severe weather event a crane was damaged at Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass site. An individual was injured during the incident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and observation in accordance with site safety protocols. Their injuries are not life threatening. There were no other impacts to the site as a result of this event.”

On Sunday night, a strong line of thunderstorms hit Rutherford Beach overturning tents and rocking campers. One tent was found the next day on the rock breakwaters, with the owner missing. A search, including a helicopter, found the man safe riding his ATV near the Cameron recreation Center.
