The Cameron Parish School Board met Monday, Apr. 11, for their regularly scheduled meeting with all members in attendance with exception of Randall Faulk, District 8 and Joe Delcambre, District 7, who were absent.
Items approved on agenda included:
A public hearing to receive comments on the Proposed Plan A for the Single-Member Election Districts for the Cameron Parish School Board in accordance with the 2020 Census-prepared by Michael C. Hefner, Chief Demographer, Geographic Planning and Demographic Service, LLC.
A Resolution adopting Plan A as the Election Plan for the Cameron Parish School Board in Accordance with the 2020 Census.
A motion was granted to proceed with giving the Superintendent authority to move forward on insurance issues for following coverages: Pollution (includes mold); Boiler and Machinery; Property; Violent Malicious Acts; Disaster Management Services; Terrorism – both Liability and Property; Cyber Liability (covers the school district’s exposure related to privacy breach, digital restoration, security liability, release of student records, etc.
Superintendent Lemmons said they would follow the same process in accessing coverages noted by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. as last year.
Members adopted millage rates to remain the same as last year for tax year 2022 as previous year.
James Hoffpauir, Project Manager with Hoffpauir Architects LLC went over progress on school project/bids that are under current construction activities.
Alfred Palma, LLC was accepted as the low bidder at a cost of $639,900 for the covered basketball pavilion at South Cameron High School.
The property at 510 Marshall St. was discussed. A packet is being prepared to go out in a letter before the building goes out for bids to sell as has been done in the past with other properties.
