Saturday’s Sandy Paws Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) event at the Johnson Bayou Community Center was a great success thanks to all who participated.

Together, they spayed and neutered a record 49 feral cats from Cameron Parish, helping humanely reduce the feral cat population and improve the health of our local cat colonies.

They welcomed Ceyanna Brown, a second-year LSU veterinary student and Cameron Parish native, as their special guest. Brown received valuable hands-on instruction from Dr. Joe Sparks of Bayou Animal Rescue Krewe and his dedicated team from Hobo Hotel in Lake Charles. Everyone is proud to see local students pursuing veterinary medicine and grateful to the veterinary partners for mentoring the next generation.

Since August 2024, Sandy Paws has assisted with 249 spay and neuter procedures in Cameron Parish. Every cat that is spayed or neutered helps prevent future litters, improves the health of community cats, and makes a lasting difference for our parish.

A special thank you to our volunteers, donors, trappers, veterinary team, and everyone who supports this mission. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who donated items for our yard sale and to those who purchased items. Your generosity raised funds that will go directly toward future Sandy Paws TNR events and help us continue this important work.
