Sandres LaBove, 88, of Sweetlake died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 in his residence.

He was born in Sweetlake where he lived all of his life. He was a graduate of Grand Lake High School. He began his career in the oil field and after 25 years he began working for the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office as a correction officer until retiring 18 years later in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Louise LaBove of Sweetlake; children, Sandy McFarland of Fittstown, Okla., Jody LaBove (Heather) of Fittstown, Okla., and Clint LaBove (Chellie) of Sweetlake; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Joseph D. LaBove; daughter, Jolene LaBove; great-grandson, Coy Fruge; and one sister.

A funeral mass was held Monday, Feb. 26, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy officiated. Burial followed in Sweetlake-Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
