MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission met in regular session on Monday, August 9, 2021, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. Richard
Burbank called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and led the pledge and prayer.
Commissioners present were Richard Burbank, Russell Badon, Nikki Norman, and Michele Long. Secretary Cindy Snead. Mike Gaspard was absent. Guest was James
Turner.
On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the minutes for
the July 14, 2020, meeting were approved as presented.
Old Business:
• The “Welcome to Holly Beach” sign has been ordered and will be completed within 4 weeks.
• Update on Holly Beach Subcommittee recommendations-Cody Norman reported the subcommittee recommends the following for Zone 2:
a) All dumpsters to be removed after the Labor Day weekend.
b) Continue discussions with the Sheriff, Police Jury, and District Attorney to allow ATVs/UTVs in Zone 2.
c) Raise the number of sub-committee members from 4 to 5.
On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Nikki Norman, and carried, the subcommittee will increase its members from 4 to 5.
• On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Richard Burbank, and carried, the board will purchase “Keep off Dune” and “No Littering’ signs from Fast Signs at
the cost of $1190.75.
New Business:
James Turner presented a video update of projects that have been implemented on Constance Beach to combat erosion and rebuild sand dunes. (Sand fencing, rocks, bulkheads, plants, etc.)
Michele Long will contact the parish to have signs replaced that were damaged from the hurricane.
On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the board authorizes Craig Broussard to form a subcommittee to set beach goals for 2022.
The next Beachfront Development meeting will be September 13, 2021.
There being no further business, on the motion of Russell Badon, seconded by Nikki Norman, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
