Ronnie Swire

Ronnie Dewey Swire, 71, of Carlyss passed away on Thursday, Apr. 28, 2022, at a local hospital. Ronnie was born on Nov. 16, 1950, to Joseph “Dewey” and Nellie Swire in Hackberry.

Ronnie loved collecting guns, competing in shooting matches, and was a proud NRA member. Ronnie worked at the Petroleum Reserve in Hackberry, but his true passion was with the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Department where he proudly served as a Deputy Sheriff for 32 years. He later became the resource deputy at Hackberry High School where he was loved by all.

Those left to cherish Mr. Swire’s memory are his children, Sharon Welch, Rebecca “Becky” Knapp and husband Tom, Nicole “Niki” Broussard and husband Jared; one son; six grandchildren, Cheyenne Bass, Brittney Knapp, Austin Broussard, Taggart Broussard, Wade Broussard, and Alexandra Broussard; two great-grandsons, Brantley Bass and Mason Bass; and one sister, Mary Wooten.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene Swire; and one brother.

Ronnie’s daughters wish to express their eternal gratitude for the loyalty and happiness his friends brought to him, especially in his time of need.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Hackberry Community Center. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family asked that all who attended bring fond memories and laughter.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
