Roll-over accident in Oak Grove

The curve north of the Oak Grove intersection is dangerous, as a driver found out early Sunday morning. At around 3:40 a.m., the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about an overturned vehicle just north of the caution light at Oak Grove.

The driver of a 2021 black Honda four-door sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve, hitting an oak tree and flipping over. The driver was pinned inside the vehicle until finally extricated at 6:13 a.m. He was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. “It could have been a lot worse,” said Chief Deputy Chris Savoie.

Several Cameron Parish deputies, along with South Cameron Fire District #1 volunteer firefighters and Ambulance District #1 crews participated in the extrication and transport. A toxicology report is pending, and charges may be filed.
