Cameron Parish Police Jury met for their regular monthly meeting on Friday, July 8.
Appointments were accepted for the following: Stephanie Rodrigue to the Recreation District No. 7 and to the Lower Cameron Hospital District. The following appointments were moved to reappoint at a later date: Fire Protection Dist. No. 10, Fire Protector District No. 16 and Johnson Bayou Rec. District.
Mark Daigle had approached the jury to grant him a variance for a vehicle repair, tire and inspection station located in Creole at the four-way stop. He wanted jurors to vote on the request before he moved forward and invested in equipment.
The Jury approved and add-on for the voting meeting and the motion failed due to the lack of a 2nd by Jurors.
Jurors approved a sponsorship in the amount of $5,000 for the 2022 Cameron Fishing Festival. Tom Barrett, with Cameron Lions Club, told jurors the event is planned to be held one more year at Grand Chenier Park and then will return to the village of Cameron as soon as the new facility, being built by Venture Global, is ready; plans will also include a Grand Opening for the whole parish.
Jurors went into Executive Session and no action was taken on hurricane litigation and workers compensation settlement.
