Ojust Clement, 89, died Sunday, August 13, 2023 in a local hospital.

He was a native of Creole and had been a resident of Vinton for over 60 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He worked most of his life in shipyards.

Survivors include his children, David Clement of Grand Lake, Vicki Doucet of Vinton, Kenneth Kellum, Sr. and wife, Roxanne of Hackberry, Carnelia Courville and husband, Howard of Loreauville, Margie Walter of Vinton, Ernest Meaux, Jr. of Vinton, and Jerry Meaux of Vinton; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Regina Pearl Clement; second wife, Martha Rea Clement; parents, Vian and Euphelia Clement; son, John Dean Clement; three siblings; and grandson, Jason Gregory Meaux. A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton led by Hixson’s celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial was in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.
