POLICE JURY
BUDGET MEETING
SEPTEMBER 2, 2022
The Cameron Parish Police Jury met in regular session on Friday September 2, 2022, in the Cameron Parish West Annex Board Room in the Village of Cameron, Louisiana at 1:00 o’clock P.M. for the review of the 2022 Budget and to hear budget request. The following members were present: Mr. Curtis Fountain, Mr. Joe Dupont, Mr. Thomas McDaniel, Mr. Scott Trahan, Mr. McKinley Guidry, Mr. Lawrence Faulk, Mr. Magnus McGee and Mr. Kirk Quinn. No member was absent.
Kayla Johnson, Treasurer, reviewed the 2022 Budget with the jury and answered any questions concerning the report.
Ms. Johnson also explained to the jury voting agenda item 17 to increase the treasurer authority for FEMA obligation purchases to be increased from $60,000.00 to $250,000.00 due to cost increases.
Mr. Fountain, President opened the floor for budget request.
Shane Manual Road & Bridge Superintendent presented quotes and requested, 3 bushhogs, and 2 tractors with slope mowers. He also told them the spray truck that was destroyed in Hurricane Laura has still not been replaced due to vehicle shortages. No one will give a quote for the truck, and the sprayer equipment & tank should be about $40,000.00. The jury approved the budget request for tractors, slope mowers, and bushhogs, and allocated $100,000.00 for the spray truck, with sprayer equipment and tank. Mr. Manual also let the jury know that the trash compactors at the Holly Beach Dump, Big Lake Dump, Sweet Lake Dump and Lowry Dump need to be replaced they have rusted through. It was moved by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Trahan, and carried the board hereby allocates funds not to exceed $250,000.00 to purchase compactors needed at the dumps listed above.
Myles Hebert, Chief Building Code Official also requested the jury to increase the condemnation budget from $10,000.00 to $100,000.00 due to cost increases. It was moved by Mr. Quinn, seconded by Mr. Dupont, and carried, the board hereby allocates funds no to exceed $100,000.00 to the condemnation budget.
With no other discussion or action needed, the budget meeting was adjourned.
