PROCEEDINGS
September 28, 2023
There was a regular meeting of Gravity Drainage District No. 8 at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Grand Lake Waterworks Office.
PRESENT: Jake McCain, Terry Smith, James Cox
ABSENT: Marsha Delaney, Tommy Arceneaux
GUESTS: Shane Manuel, James Boudreaux
On motion of James Cox, second by Terry Smith and carried, the minutes of the of the July 13, 2023, meeting are approved.
On motion of James Cox, second by Terry Smith and carried, the August Finance Report and the 2024 Budget draft was accepted by the board as presented by the Secretary.
On a motion of Terry Smith, seconded by James Cox and carried, the board approved the following permits:
a. LCUP # 230906 – CPPJ – continue excavation of material
b. LCUP # – Volney Griffin – canal maintenance
c. LCUP # – Sherrie Broussard – excavate exiting pond to level property
d. LCUP # – BP America Production – remove debris & plug well on Matilda Savoie Property
James Boudreaux requested the board to inspect the culverts at the intracoastal on Lateral 5. He recommended the culverts be replaced with a larger size to increase drainage capacity south of Cal Cam Road and Boudreaux Lane. Shane Manuel requested the board add a culvert under the road and check the grade level of the lateral to facilitate drainage. The drainage board will send the Parish Engineer to conduct surveying and make a recommendation on the sizing of the culverts and grading of the lateral.
