The 23rd season of the Coastwide Nutria Control Program season is under way and runs through Mar. 31. This program is funded by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act.
Nutria, invasive rodents native to South America, continue to threaten Louisiana’s coastal wetlands, but thanks to this program, damage has been reduced to under 10,000 acres annually. But there’s still work to do!
Earn $6 per nutria tail at collection centers. Our goal is to harvest 400,000 nutria this season!
Requirements: Valid Louisiana Trapping License; Permission to trap/hunt; Property description and map; W-9 Tax Form
Property must be located south of I-10 (Texas to Baton Rouge) or south of I-12 (Baton Rouge to Mississippi) to be eligible for participation.
