Norman James East, 62, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024 in his residence.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Hackberry. He worked for many years in the oil production field.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Ann East of Hackberry; mother, Wilda East of Hackberry; siblings, Mary Poage of Abbeville, Annette East of Hackberry, Jackie Payne of Sulphur, Brenda East of Magnolia, Texas, and Jack East of Hackberry; adoptive son, Ricky Smith and wife, Skyla Richard of Kinder.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman East; one brother; and one sister.

His funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 30, in St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Arvind Minz, HGN officiated. Burial was in Hackberry Cemetery.
