MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission met in regular session on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Richard Burbank, who led the pledge and prayer.
Commissioners present were Chairman Richard Burbank, Vice Chairman Russell Badon, Michele Long, Tammy Erbelding, Nikki Norman, and Secretary Cindy Snead. On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Nikki Norman, and carried, the minutes for the September 12, 2022, meeting were approved as presented.
Guest present was Desiree Derouen with Cheniere Energy.
Old Business:
Cody Norman reported on the last Holly Beach sub-committee meeting and asked for additional rock to be added on Egret Street in Holly Beach. A work order will be submitted.
Michele Long updated the board on the Little Florida/Beach Blvd. Protection Project. Williams Energy recently donated $5000 for future maintenance of the project. Also, she reported that the ribbon cutting had a good turnout by local industries, parish, and community. On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Niki Norman, and carried, the final project form was accepted and the project was closed.
Craig Broussard reported on the leasing of state beach land. A formal letter was sent to the parish administrator and state asking for assistance in moving the project forward. Once received, the state requested additional information, which was immediately submitted.
Michele Long reported on the Cameron Parish Beach Sweep 2022 District #1. Approximately 230 people were in attendance, and 30 cubic yards of compacted trash was picked up. Suggestions for 2023 Cameron Parish Beach Sweep were discussed. As soon as all bills are paid, the project will be closed.
New Business:
The board discussed the possibility of creating a DOTD Adopt-A-Road program along mile markers 19 through 24 of Hwy 82. Local industries and civic groups will be polled to see if there is interest in creating this project.
Open Session:
Michele Long updated the parish website with board members’ information as well as the new beach pamphlet.
Michele Long reported that she had been asked to attend the Lake Charles Chamber of Commerce Leadership meeting in Cameron Parish on October 11, 2022. Chip Kline, CPRA Chairman and Representative Ryan Bourriaque will be guest speakers.
Russell Badon reported that a Johnson Bayou plant that is being decommissioned is donating 1600 cubic yards of concrete, and Crain Brothers has agreed to move it to Long Beach. Also, Sonny McGee will work at securing DOTD concrete barriers for use at Long Beach as well.

No bills to be paid.
The next meeting will be November 14, 2022.
There being no further business, on the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Nikki Norman, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
