MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission convened for its regular session on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Johnson Bayou Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Michele Long, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Michele Long; Commissioner/Secretary Cindy Snead; Commissioner B.J. Miller
ABSENT: Vice Chairman Russell Badon, Commissioner Debbie Fontenot

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes of the January 12, 2026 meeting as presented was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None

FINANCIAL REPORT: A motion to approve the January 2026 financial report as presented was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot and Superior Storage was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
Holly Beach Update: No update
Safety Rescue Tubes & Signage: A workday will be planned in the future to design, build, and install 10 safety flotation devices on area beaches.
Cameron Ferry Boat Launch Renovation Project: The Cameron Parish Roads & Bridges Department has begun cleaning and bush hogging the perimeter of the boat launch area in preparation for the Cameron Ferry Ribbon Cutting, scheduled for late March or early April. A motion to requisition signage and crushed concrete was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously approved by the board. Additionally, the board will remain in contact with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) regarding future ferry launch projects.
Creole Nature Trail Restroom Facility at Holly Beach: No update

Cameron Parish Beach Sweep: The Board received an update regarding logistics and financial planning for the April 25, 2026 Cameron Parish Beach Sweep.
A motion to table the election of officers for 2026 until the March meeting was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
Add-On: Consideration of authorizing the submission of a letter of support for the Cameron Parish Police Jury resolution regarding HB 5, HB 7, HB 79, and HB 80 was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board. A motion to authorize the submission of a letter of support for the Cameron Parish Police Jury resolution regarding HB 5, HB 7, HB 79, and HB 80 was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The LSU High-Frequency Radar Project was discussed, with proposed sites at Freshwater Bayou, Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, Broussard Beach, and Sabine Lighthouse. Once operational, it will provide public access to data via smartphones and support hurricane forecasting, marine safety, search and rescue, coastal restoration, and other environmental monitoring efforts.
Ethics Training and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Training are due by December 31, 2026.
