MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
LOWER CAMERON HOSPITAL SERVICE DISTRICT
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
The Board of Commissioners of Lower Cameron Hospital Service District met in Regular Session Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s office, in Cameron, Louisiana. Members present were Chairman Stephanie Rodrigue, Vice-Chairman Mary Canik, Vickie Kiffe, Tredale Boudreaux and Shawn Bonsall. Guests in attendance were Cameron Parish District Attorney Tom Barrett, Cameron Parish Police Jurors Magnus “Sonny” McGee and Scott Trahan and Cameron Parish Coroner Dr. Dupke.
The meeting was called to order by Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman. A quorum was determined. There were no public comments.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Mary Canik, the Agenda was unanimously approved with the addition of receipt of Ordinance creating the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and all statutes pertaining to the District, to be presented by Cameron Parish District Attorney Tom Barrett.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the Minutes of the February 2023 Regular Meeting were unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux the Minutes of the March 22, 2023, Special Meeting were unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Tredale Boudreaux, seconded by Mary Canik, the adoption of the 2023 Millage Rate was unanimously approved.
A report was received from Lanzi H. Meyers, J.D., Special Health Law Counsel, indicating that a copy of the District’s Tax Identification Letter had been secured, ownership packets for the South Cameron Memorial Hospital licenses and provider numbers have been filed and are in line to be processed, after which the District will file to terminate both the licenses and provider number, the cargo trailer and mobile generators were received from Stonebridge and are securely stored, medical records pertaining to the Main Campus have been received and are stored and able to be accessed upon patient request.
By Roll Call Vote, the 2023 Millage Resolution was unanimously approved with yeas by Vickie Kiffe, Tredale Boudreaux, Shawn Bonsall, Mary Canik and Stephanie Rodrigue.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Financial Report was unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, bills were unanimously approved to be paid.
Upon motion by Vickie Kiffe, seconded by Mary Canik, the Architectural and Engineering Service Firm, Hoffpauir-WHLC, was approved for the permanent and temporary campuses of South Cameron Memorial Hospital. Opposed: Shawn Bonsall
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux the formal request to the Cameron Parish Police Jury at the April 12, 2023 meeting to repair and renovate the former Cameron Health Unit building to utilize as a temporary clinic and add a code-compliant emergency wing was unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the following meeting dates: April 26th, May 24th, June 29th, July 27th, August 30th, September 27th, October 25th, November 30th, and December 28, 2023, were unanimously approved for the remainder of the calendar year and will be published on the Cameron Parish Police Jury website.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Board officially received a copy of the Ordinance creating the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and all statutes pertaining to the District, as presented by Cameron Parish District Attorney Tom Barrett.
It was noted that the next regular meeting was previously scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Office, in Cameron, Louisiana.
There being no further business, upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 4:41 p.m.
