MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission convened for its regular session on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Michele Long, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Michele Long, Commissioner/Secretary Cindy Snead, Commissioner Tammy Erbelding, and Commissioner B.J. Miller
ABSENT: Vice Chairman Russell Badon
GUESTS: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes of the February 10, 2025 meeting as presented was made by B.J. Miller, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
FINANCIAL REPORT: A motion to approve the February 2025 financial report as presented was made by B.J. Miller, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot was made by B.J. Miller, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
Holly Beach Subcommittee: The board again discussed the need for a Holly Beach Representative to serve as a Commissioner Designate for Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1. The representative must be a registered voter in Cameron Parish, attend all board meetings, and lead the Holly Beach subcommittee to work with the community on local projects and activities.
Love the Boot 2025: Plans have been finalized for the April 12, 2025, Love the Boot Beach Cleanup. Cameron Parish Beachfront Districts 1 and 2 will collaborate on this event.
Beach Blvd. Protection Project: The board will conduct further research on sourcing materials for the project.
NEW BUSINESS:
A motion to ratify the letter of support for the Delta Regional Authority Grant for the parish was made by B.J. Miller, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Ethics Training and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Training are due by December 31, 2025.
