Moss Family Adventure to be at six locations

The Moss Family Adventure, a family-owned reptile business, is bringing an exciting and educational hands-on experience to six Cameron Parish Library locations as part of the “Plant a Seed, Read” summer reading program. The event will feature a variety of reptiles, including Australian carpet pythons and petite pythons, along with geckos from New Caledonia, all bred and cared for by the Moss family.

Families and children are invited to attend these free events and enjoy direct interaction with the reptiles, while also learning valuable educational insights about these fascinating creatures. Each event will include a full educational encounter, giving attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the reptiles’ habitats, behaviors, and care.

The schedule for all Cameron Parish locations are as follows:

Tuesday, June 9: Grand Lake Library, 10 a.m., 10200 Gulf Hwy, Lake Charles; Klondike Community Center, 3 p.m., 434 Veterans Memorial Dr., Gueydan.

Wednesday, June 10: Grand Chenier Library, 10 a.m., 2863 Grand Chenier Hwy, Grand Chenier; Cameron Main Library, 2 p.m., 512 Marshall St., Cameron.

Thursday, June 11: Hackberry (Old) Community Center, 10 a.m., 980 Main St., Hackberry; Johnson Bayou Community Center, 2 p.m.

Moss Family Adventure was founded in 2021 with the goal of creating a family-run business where children could actively participate. Over the years, they have grown their collection, honing in on Australian snake species like carpet pythons and various gecko species from New Caledonia. All of their animals are captive bred, selected for their suitability as pets for both beginners and experienced reptile keepers.

The event is part of Cameron Parish Libraries’ summer program to engage young readers and families in educational activities, with opportunities to win door prizes at each location. Whether you’re a long-time reptile enthusiast or a newcomer, these events are sure to provide an unforgettable experience for all ages.
