Marie Jeanette Benoit, 88, of Lake Charles, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Jeanette was born in Creole to Walter Lee Rogers, Sr and Enez Nunez Rogers.

Jeanette was a longtime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and St. Margaret Catholic Church. She worked as the Secretary at Cameron Parish Library for over 30 years. Jeanette enjoyed reading, tending to her flower garden, going to lunch with her cousins, and she especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was most affectionately called “Granny” by the people who knew and loved her.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ed” Benoit, Sr.; her parents; a brother, Walter Lee Rogers, Jr.; and a grandson-in-law, Ryan King.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Eddie Benoit, Jr (Peggy); son, Kent Benoit; grandchildren, Courtnie King, Mika LeBert (Josh), Chad Benoit (Ashley), Kris Benoit (Jodi), and Kyle Benoit (Amanda); 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation began at 8:30 a.m. until time of Rosary at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at J.E. Hixson Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles with Rev. Prabhaka Kowtiki officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery officiated by Rev. Jerish George, M.O.C. under the direction of J.E. Hixson Funeral Home.
