The Cameron Parish Library Board on March 19 voted to purchase land in Hackberry to build a new branch library. The .72 acre property, located at 613 Main Street and 120 Legion Road, sold for $101,400. It is in an AE zone.

The Board is pleased to finally acquire land for a new branch in Hackberry. The existing building has been flooded twice, in Hurricanes Rita and Ike, and has parking issues. The new location will be visible, accessible, and more spacious. The District Attorney is working on a deed, and the purchase should be concluded soon.
