Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 12:00 p.m., May 23, 2026 at the Cameron Parish Mosquito Control Office. Board members present were Thomas Cox, James Boudreaux, Robert Trahan, and Marck Smythe. Karl Styron, Bryce Carpenter and Mitchel Kelley were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, April 1, 2026. A motion was made by James Boudreaux, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by James Boudreaux, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In old business, additions to Sweetlake property was discussed. Robert Trahan made a motion, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to proceed to the next steps with the State Fire Marshall office and parish permitting.
In new business, the USAF IRT was discussed. Possible flights are scheduled for mid to late August if weather permits.
Next, the cost-of-living raise was discussed. Robert Trahan, made a motion, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to go into executive session. A roll call vote was called with 4 yeas, 0 nays. Robert Trahan made the motion, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to exit executive session. Motion was made by James Boudreax, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to leave pay as is.
James Boudreaux, made a motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, to approve the sale of old trucks and miscellaneous items in one of the surplus auctions in Sulphur or Lake Charles in the later in the year.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, Robert Trahan made a motion, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
