?PROCEEDINGS
The Hackberry Fire Protection District 1 Board met for a regular session at the Hackberry Fire Station located at 1025 Main Street on Monday May 19, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Board members present by roll call were Mr. Thad Little, Mr. Colton Sanner, Mr. Lawrence Little, Mr. Robert Silver, and Mr. Gerald Landry. Also present, district members Chief Clint Welch, Mr. Brad Lester, Austin Moore and employee Mrs. Sydney Bird. Absent Police Juror Mr. Michael Fewell.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Thad Little. The Pledge and Prayer was led by Thad Little followed by taking roll. On motion from Lawrence, seconded by Robert and carried unanimously, the minutes from April 7th, 2025, were dismissed.
Monthly financial reports were given for the month of March and April.
Under old business, Chief Welch reviewed:
1. Generator update.
2. Pick up and disposal of foam containing PFAS.
3. Updates on Engine 1 and the Brush Truck repairs.
4. The clearing of the land behind the fire station.
5. The Automatic Aid Agreement for structural fires.
6. Discuss upgrading the current APX6000 portable radio to WIFI to make it capable to work inside Hackberry High School. The fire board wants to contact the school board to gather more information.
7. The Police Jury has approved to go out for bids for the new fire truck.
8. No parish entity will be using the fire departments side by side.
Under new business the following was discussed:
1. PIAL score is now Class 6.
2. The board wants to know the cost for hydrant repairs
3. Klondike Fire is interested in acquiring Hackberry Ladder 1. On motion from Lawrence, seconded by Gerald and carried unanimously, the decision to donate Hackberry Fire Ladder 1 to Klondike once the truck is no longer needed. 4. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are being revised with the committee
5. Hurricane Preparedness Plan for 2025.
6. Review inactive members, the board wants to have bylaws put in place for inactive members.
7. Chief Clint discussed fire department activities: The response run report along with department training.
There being no further business, on the motion of Lawrence, seconded by Robert and carried unanimously, the meeting was declared adjourned.
