Joseph Baccigalopi

Joseph Swinford Baccigalopi, 92, of Creole passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

He was born May 23, 1931 to parents Joseph Amar “Jim” and Edna Annie Savoie Baccigalopi in Creole. Joseph moved to Big Lake after hurricane Rita, where he resided until he left this earthly world. This September Swinford and Lorraine would have been married 70 years.

Swinford built and remodeled many homes in Cameron Parish as well as other areas also. He loved taking grandkids to the Tarpon Frezzo for ice cream and arcade games. He was happiest in his shop, especially with the grandsons by his side.

He always was willing to sit with grandkids and teach about his trade/livelihood as a self taught master carpenter.

He was a man with unconditional love for his family, and protective of his grandchildren. He was known for always having a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nick Baccigalopi; parents; and in-laws, Jasper and Gladys Babineaux Ogea.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Theresa Ogea Baccigalopi; his children, Joel (Sherry) Baccigalopi, Susan B Hebert (Donald), Doyle (Nila) Baccigalopi, Roger (Angel) Baccigalopi and Esther Baccigalopi; his grandchildren, Angela Baccigalopi-Borrowdale, Hannah Baccigalopi-McMillan, Chuck and Dwayne Benoit, Blake and Mark Baccigalopi, Erica Baccigalopi-Bradley, Theresa Baccigalopi-Menard, Tony Baccigalopi, Alicia Baccigalopi-Franks, Mathew Baccigalopi, Savannah Baccigalopi-Miller and Kendra Baccigalopi-Lewis; his daughter-in-law, Renee Baccigalopi; as well as multiple step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren which he loved as much as his own.

Pallbearers for funeral services were Chuck and Dwayne Benoit, T. J Menard, Jerad Bradley, Jasper Ogea and Tony Baccigalopi.
