Grand Lake Library has new hours

Cameron Parish Library, the Grand Lake Branch has new hours. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 7, the library is open Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Do you have a Cameron Parish Library card? During the month of September, the Cameron Parish Library encourages everyone who does not have a Cameron Parish Library card to sign-up for a free card at one of its six branch locations in Cameron, Grand Chenier, Grand Lake, Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, or Lowry and receive a free gift while supplies last.

With school back in session, library card sign-up month is the best time to remind parents that a library card is a valuable school supply for children, and the “smartest” card to carry.

A Cameron Parish Library card allows free access to books, eBooks, Digital Magazines, DVDs, computers, and a variety of databases, including Tutor.com, a one-to-one online tutoring service.

Tutor.com connects students to qualified tutors from any Internet-enabled computer. English and Spanish-speaking tutors are available. Students, parents, and teachers can connect to online tutors 7 Days a Week from 2 p.m.-12 a.m. through the Cameron Parish Library website at www.cameron.lib.la.us , click on Homework Louisiana. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade, and even AP level class work and intro-level college coursework can use Live Homework Help as often as needed.

To sign-up for a free Cameron Parish Library card, a photo I.D. and proof of mailing address is required. Non-residents are also eligible to sign-up. Parents can sign-up for their babies, toddlers, and children.

For more information about Tutor.com services, or the many other free resources at the Cameron Parish Library, visit www.cameron.lib.la.us, or stop by your local library branch.
