Genelle Crochet

Genelle Marie Conner Crochet, 86, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022 in her home surrounded by loving family.

Genelle was born on June 29, 1935 to Elie John Conner and Nita Boudreaux Conner in Creole. She was born and raised in Oak Grove and after Hurricane Rita moved to Grand Lake.

Genelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devote catholic. She will be remembered for her huge heart and always put others before her.

Genelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Paul Crochet,; her parents; and a brother.

She is survived by two sons, Valmond Crochet (Janice) and Kent Crochet (Arlene); two daughters, Debbie Duhon (Albert) and Charlotte Crochet; nine grandchildren Niki Fenetz (Cody), Tressa Miller (Ryan), Mary Beth Broussard (Cory), Brandi Gremillion (Neil), Amanda Fitkin (Brandon), Aaron Crochet (Abbey), Scott Crochet, Mark Crochet (Shyann) and Michael Duhon (Britni); 21 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sister Roberta Richard (Eldred) and sister-in-law Dorothy Templet; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake on Tuesday, Feb. 1. The visitation began at 10 a.m. with a rosary at 1 p.m. A burial mass followed at 2 p.m. Monsignor James Gaddy and Father Wayne LeBleu officiated. Burial followed at Sweet Lake-Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
