Hackberry Storage Project
Please take notice that on January 29, 2021, LA Storage, LLC (“LAS”) filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“Commission”) an Application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity and Approval of Market-Based Rates (“Application”) pursuant to Section 7(c) of the Natural Gas Act (“NGA”) and Part 157 of the Commission’s regulations for authorization to construct, own, operate, and maintain a new natural gas salt dome storage facility and associated compression and pipeline facilities in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes, Louisiana (“Hackberry Storage Project” or “Project”).
The proposed Project will involve the conversion of three existing salt dome caverns and development of one new salt dome cavern on a 160-acre parcel owned by LA Storage. The Project will include two 42-inch diameter natural gas pipelines. One 42-inch pipeline segment will be approximately 11.1 miles long and extend from the facility north to an interconnection with Port Arthur Louisiana Connector Pipeline. A second 42-inch pipeline will be approximately 4.9 miles in length and extended north from the facility to an interconnect with Cameron Interstate Pipeline. A 6.2-mile 16-inch diameter brine disposal pipeline will be constructed to connect the Project Facility with 4 proposed brine disposal wells. LA Storage will construct and operate on-site compression facilities and other ancillary facilities related to natural gas storage and transportation. The Project will also involve development of six water supply wells on LA Storage’s property. The Project will be owned and operated by LA Storage with a total gas storage capacity of approximately 25.5 billion cubic feet (“Bcf”).
The Commission has assigned Docket No. CP21-44-000 to the LA Storage Application. The Application is on file with the Commission and available for public inspection.
