DOTD resumes ferry services in Cameron

By Cyndi Sellers

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an alternate ferry, St. Francisville, has resumed ferry service in Cameron. The vessel will remain in service until the repairs for the Acadia are complete.

For the safety of the traveling public and for ferry boat personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) requests that motorists wear face masks when boarding a ferry on the toll collection side. Additionally, masks must be worn when interacting with DOTD employees. This is in accordance with Gov. John Bel Edwards’ renewal of the Phase 2 Resilient Louisiana proclamation that includes a statewide mask mandate, 96 JBE 2020 Section 3, which applies to public transportation.

In an effort to help minimize possible exposure to COVID-19, DOTD requests that motorists remain in their vehicles when traveling on ferries. However, masks must be worn if drivers leave their vehicles for any reason.
