The Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District met in regular session on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Port Board Building, Cameron, Louisiana at 5:00 o’clock PM.
Present: Howard Romero, Tremayne Picou, Thomas Cox, Nathan Griffith, Brent Morales, Dwight Savoie
Absent: Jimmy Brown, Nina Jones, Sheila Miller, Alfred Devall, Kevin Vincent
Guests: Bryon Richard- Lonnie, Harper & Associates, Kevin Savoie- LSU Sea Grant, Elliot Boudreaux? Fenstermaker, Gus Fontenot- SWLA Alliance
Parish Agencies: Kim Montie, Port Director, Tianna Dunaway, Asst. Port Director Tom Barrett, District Attorney, Chelsea Champagne, Assistant District Attorney.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Howard Romero.
Dwight Savoie led the Pledge of Allegiance and Nathan Griffith gave the invocation.
There was no public comment.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board approved the January 31, 2023 regular meeting minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Savoie seconded by Mr. Griffith and carried the board approved the treasurer’s report.
On the motion of Mr. Savoie, seconded by Mr. Griffith and carried the board approved payment of the February 2023 bills.
The Board reviewed the actuals and the budget.
Under correspondence the board reviewed a letter from the USCG on the Mermentau Channel Survey. They also reviewed a letter from Amy Miller with Cheniere regarding Sabine Pass Liquefaction expansion.
Under report from commissioners Dwight Savoie spoke about windfarms being built in the near future and the port taking advantage of being apart of the project.
There was no old business.
Under new business the board considered approval of the Coastal Use Permit for AOC Park.
On the motion of Mr. Savoie, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board approved the Coastal use Permit pending approval of Kim Montie and Tom Barrett.
On the motion of Mr. Griffith, seconded by Mr. Savoie, and carried, the board approved modification of the lease to accommodate the Coastal Use Permit.
Mrs. Kim Montie gave a staff report. She informed the board of changes to be made to the coastal use permit. She let the board know about the opening of the time capsule and an event which will be held on March 15, 2023 pertaining to the time capsule. She read the board a letter presented to the Louisiana Oyster Task Force. She informed the board of the great tum out from the CPRA meeting which was held on February 16, 2023 at the Burton Coliseum. She updated the board on Venture Global’s FTZ application process. She also informed the board of meetings that she plans to attend in the near future.
The next regular meeting will be scheduled for March 21, 2023, at 5 PM at the Cameron Parish Port Building.
There being no further business and upon motion of Mr. Griffith seconded by Mr. Picou and carried, the meeting was declared adjourned.
