OF DAMAGED OR SUNKEN
VESSELS AND
ORPHANED CONTAINERS FROM NAVIGATIONAL
WATERWAYS AS A RESULT
OF HURRICANE LAURA
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has taken custody of approximately 14 damaged or sunken vessels and orphaned containers from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), for which the owner has not been identified or located. LDEQ removed these vessels and containers from the navigational waterways of the State of Louisiana in Cameron Parish, pursuant to La. R.S. 34:843 because they posed an immediate danger to life or property, and the owner was either unable to be identified or could not be located. These vessels and containers were damaged, sunken, or orphaned as a result of Hurricane Laura.
In accordance with La. R.S. 34:843, DOTD intends to dispose, sell, exchange, or otherwise transfer ownership of these vessels and containers. The owner of these vessels and containers has 30 days from the publication of this notice to redeem a listed vessel or container from the custody of DOTD. Documentation of ownership, in the form of registration or proof of purchase, will be required to be submitted to DOTD prior to the release of the vessel or container.
